What should you consider when hiring a horse drawn carriage?
- Request a copy of the company's contract. Be sure that it contains their policies in regards to time constraints, distances to be traveled, weather options and refunds. You want to be sure of what you will and will not get for the money you are spending.
- What type of decorations are provided -- including banners, ribbons and bows? Can you customize the decorations?
- Will there be any food, beverage or music provided or allowed on the ride?
- How well do the drivers present themselves?
- Can you view the carriage, horse and driver before the event? Notice the area around the stable, carriage house, and office. Is it clean and well-managed?
- Were your calls to the business promptly answered? Were there delays in call-backs? Are you waiting on a pager or answering machine? Ease of contact may matter for last minute changes in your schedule.
Whats the best way to get myself into a Kemah Carriage?
Make a reservation.
By calling 832.489.5937 or 281.538.3200 to reserve a time and date for service. It is best to call at least 8 hours before your desired reservation time to guarantee you get the time slot you need. During peak request times, such as Christmas or Valentines, you may want to call a month in advance.
Flag down or walk up to one of our carriages in Kemah.
If the driver is available, she or he will stop and provide you service on the spot. On occasion, you may see a driver with an empty carriage that is not available, as she or he may be waiting for a reserved ride or going to pickup a reservation. If possible, the driver will direct you to an available carriage or call for one to come.
Have a carriage dispatched to your location.
By calling 832.489.5937 or 281.538.3200. This may take only 5 minutes or over an half an hour, depending on how busy we are. The dinner hours between 7:00pm to 9:30pm tend to be the most requested times. Please be ready to board when the carriage arrives at your location at the requested time.
Can I change my reservation?
You have up to two hours prior to make a time change (depending on availability) or cancel to avoid being charged for the rides.
What if the weather turns bad?
During rainy weather conditions we are more flexible with times so as to try and give you the services you requested. A cancellation shortly before pick-up time is understandable, and of course you would not be charged any fees.
